/media/strange-name autocompletes

Postby nadir » March 18th, 2011, 4:16 am

Several distros i use for rescue purpose create mount-points for internal partitions at /media, some get automounted.
So far, so bad.
Now i want to do:
mkdir /media/disk
and it autocompletes to
mkdir /media/diskpart
and waits for me to enter the rest (diskpart1 or diskpart2 and so on).

That also happens if i only got cdrom at media: /media/cdrom, but no other folders.
I type mkdir /media/di and it autocompletes, without tab, to /media/cdrom.

Which package does it, or which setting?

When searching for that all i find is "autocomplete " in conjunction with <tab-key>
The distributions i speak of do it on their own. Its antix and aptosid.
I would search, if i could think of a better search term:
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=/media ... art=0&sa=N
It is very annoying. I use them when i need to repair the system (that means i am already in a bad mood anyway).
Thanks for ideas.
