Still want to use Wheezy

Postby BowCatShot » March 29th, 2019, 12:40 pm

Now that wheezy has been archived, I can no longer install packages.

I have the original 10 installation dvd's for this release and I attempted to change
my sources.list to point to the dvd set, however it doesn't work.

apt-cdrom doesn't seem to do it's job properly, e.g. :

Code: Select all
root@NicksHPDebianWheezyKDE:/etc/apt# apt-cdrom -d=/media/cdrom0/ add -m
Using CD-ROM mount point /media/cdrom0/
Identifying.. [1bd153d9d5602634a88095ad8018262d-2]
Scanning disc for index files..
Found 2 package indexes, 0 source indexes, 2 translation indexes and 0 signatures
This disc is called:
'Debian GNU/Linux 7.1.0 _Wheezy_ - Official amd64 DVD Binary-1 20130615-23:06'

Source list entries for this disc are:
deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 7.1.0 _Wheezy_ - Official amd64 DVD Binary-1 20130615-23:06]/ wheezy contrib main
Repeat this process for the rest of the CDs in your set.
root@NicksHPDebianWheezyKDE:/etc/apt# apt-get update

Any thoughts on this? What have I done wrong/not done?

You know http://archive.debian.org/debian/dists/?
I haven't seen Wheezy's security repository there or in http://archive.debian.org/debian-security/dists/ but maybe it will show up there just a bit later?

Perhaps someone other has the answer...

Thank you, yeti. Yes I did look into the archives but had some trouble with the keyrings. And as you
pointed out, security is not there yet, but may be in the future.
