Postby niculelu » August 8th, 2018, 4:05 pm

hi,
lsblk
sda 8:0 0 20G 0 disk
├─sda1 8:1 0 300M 0 part /boot
├─sda2 8:2 0 17.8G 0 part /
└─sda3 8:3 0 2G 0 part [SWAP]

if i boot from dvd and use grub-install then what is correct grub-install /dev/sda or grub-install /dev/sda1?
tnx

Check to make sure that sda is still sda when you boot from dvd.
If it's a bios-based computer (legacy boot) then use 'grub-install /dev/sda' (the bootload goes into the master boot record.)
If it's a uefi computer, use 'grub-install' (no device needed because the bootloader goes in the EFI partition.)
