I didn't do it for a long time, the only things which come to my mind are something around the lines of:
Did you do something similar to "cp /etc/wordpress/config-localhost.php /etc/wordpress/config-192.168.1.3"

(same/similar for the WAN IP or URL)
Truth is: i am not too sure how to exactly do it right. It always have been a few tries. And awkward ones.

And this:
Code: Select all
bash /usr/share/doc/wordpress/examples/setup-mysql -n wordpress localhost
/etc/init.d/mysql restart

That are the two things which usually gave me trouble, as far i remember
(the second doesn't sound like your problem, just saying what i usually get wrong).

Some security addons standing in the way? (cookie-monster, cookies not enabled per default, noscript or such).

Thanks, Marcus. I'll try those suggestions. I think I did the
Code: Select all
cp /etc/wordpress/config-localhost.php /etc/wordpress/config-192.168.1.3
and I ran the setup-mysql also, I think. Maybe not. As far as the init.d/mysql restart I'm pretty sure I did that but I have rebooted several times since and so mysql restarted on reboot. Do you know anything about Safe_Mode=off in PHP?

http://php.net/manual/en/features.safe-mode.php looks quite good explanations - basically it isn't wanted on a setup like yours.

What do the logfiles (/var/log/apache2/yourwebsite.{access|error}.log and maybe wordpress has another as well?) say about when you look at the index?

@FretfulMother & @dilberts_left_nut.
I made so many edits to config files and nothing worked. I decided to start over with a fresh install of wheezy. I got the site up and running in less than one hour. I haven't a clue what I did wrong the first 100 tries.

To me it was often the same. It didn't work, to me it looked as if i did everything correct. I tried this, i tried that, still didn't work,
and suddenly it works without i could say what i did right this time.
